An evening with Hugh Syme featuring the art created for Rush's Fifty Something Anniversary Tour, including a VIP meet and greet and art exhibition.
Hugh Syme is coming to Ao5 Gallery in the Arboretum on Saturday, October 17, for an evening centered on the art he created for Rush's Fifty Something Anniversary Tour. If you've spent any time looking at the covers of the records you own, you've likely run into his work without even knowing it.
Syme is a Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist best known for his album covers for Dream Theater, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Queensrÿche, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, and Iron Maiden. But his longest relationship is with Rush, whose covers he's designed since 1975—including the Starman logo. He's also a musician in his own right and has played keyboard on several Rush albums, so he's worked with the band from both the visual and the musical side.
The show hangs the art he produced for the Fifty Something Anniversary Tour, and the evening is split into two parts. From 6 to 8 PM is a VIP Meet & Greet with Syme, where ticket holders can bring one item to be autographed and every VIP gets a limited-edition signed art print. General admission follows from 8 to 10 PM.
