Terror Tuesday screening of the horror film Memento Mori at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.
Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar is screening Memento Mori on Tuesday, August 25, as part of its Terror Tuesday series. The film starts at 9:30 PM, so it's a late-night one—the kind of thing that works better when the sun's already down.
If you haven't spent much time there lately, the South Lamar location is in the Lamar Union complex in South Austin. It's grown a bit since its early days: they've added three brand-new auditoriums, which brings the total to nine screens. The rooms range from 46 to 198 seats, with a combined capacity of 975 across the whole place. It's a big enough operation that you can usually find a spot, but the smaller screens still keep things feeling close.
Right next door is The Highball, which gives you a few options for before or after the movie. It's got seven karaoke rooms, a ballroom dance floor and stage, a lounge area, and an outdoor patio. If you're coming from across town, it's easy to make a whole evening of it—dinner or drinks nearby, then the film, and maybe a round of karaoke afterward if you're not too spooked. The screening is part of Terror Tuesday, the theater's long-running series that brings horror and genre cinema to the big screen on Tuesday nights.
