Terminator 2: Judgment Day 35th Anniversary

Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane is bringing Terminator 2: Judgment Day back to the big screen for its 35th anniversary, with screenings running from Friday, August 28, through Wednesday, September 2. It's a good excuse to revisit a movie that most of us have seen a dozen times, but that still hits differently in a theater.

If you're coming to it for the first time, T2 is the one that took the low-budget grit of 1984's The Terminator and turned it into blockbuster mayhem. It's the movie that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a megastar, vaulted James Cameron to the top of the director heap, and spawned a franchise that never quite reached those same heights again. By flipping the original on its head and turning Cyberdyne Systems' Model 101 into an unlikely hero, it became one of those rare Nineties hits that keeps its bleak power—and hits even harder as we stare at a future dominated by AI.

The screening is at an eight-screen cinema with table service, so you can eat and drink while you watch. Just keep in mind the house rules: they have a strict no-talking, no-texting, and no-late-arrivals policy, which is a welcome change if you're tired of the usual theater distractions.

There are plenty of times to choose from over the course of the run. It kicks off Friday at 7 PM, followed by Saturday at 3:20 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
