Solo acoustic performance by Austin singer-songwriter Taylor Graves at the Austin Country Club.
Taylor Graves plays a solo acoustic set at Austin Country Club on Thursday, September 17. It's a stripped-back night: just Graves on stage, no band behind her, and the songs left to stand on their own.
Graves is an Austin-based singer-songwriter who describes her sound as a blend of new-school folk country and Americana, mixed with the soul of the classics and the grunge of rock and roll. She writes from her own life experiences and from the stories people share with her, so the songs tend to lean on the personal and the observational. When she's not playing solo, she performs with The Tombstone Trio, which adds Lucas Johnson on fiddle, lead guitar and vocals, Drew Preston on drums and percussion, and Dave Groff on bass.
That trio has a fair amount of ground behind it. They've played American Idol, The Ryman Auditorium and the Moody Center, and have opened for Boy George, Sam Riggs, Cody Johnson, Kody West and Linda Gail Lewis. This show is a different thing entirely—just Graves and her acoustic guitar, without the fiddle or the rhythm section.
