More than 20 local vendors display and sample vegan and vegetarian foods at Wheatsville Food Co-op.
Taste of Plant Based comes to Wheatsville Food Co-op on Saturday, July 18, from 11 AM to 4 PM. It's a tasting event that brings together more than 20 local vendors under one roof, each setting up a table to display and sample their vegan and vegetarian foods. If you're into plant-based eating, it's a good way to try a lot of different things in one go without having to commit to a full meal at every stop.
The lineup includes a few names you might already recognize from around town. Afia will be there with their falafel, and Savir brings their sauces. St. Cecilia will have their soda on hand, and you'll find popcorn tofu among the samples. With over 20 vendors in the mix, the variety should cover a fair bit of ground, from savory snacks to drinks.
Wheatsville is a natural fit for this. It's a staple in the Austin community, known for its wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options and for supporting local producers, so hosting a plant-based tasting event is right up its alley. The co-op is located at 4001 South Lamar Boulevard, in the 78704 zip code.
