Pop-punk and emo cover band Taking Back Tacos performs with tribute acts Generation Strange and The Crowing at Mohawk.
Taking Back Tacos play Mohawk on Friday, September 4, with Generation Strange and The Crowing. It's a triple bill of cover bands, and the whole night is indoors and all-ages.
Taking Back Tacos is a pop-punk and emo cover band that formed in early 2025. The members are Austin musicians who connected through social media groups, and for over a year they've been playing the soundtrack of the early 2000s on stages across Austin, Kyle, Pflugerville, San Marcos, and San Antonio. They describe their sets as being built on crowd sing-alongs, audience participation, and high-energy performances.
They're sharing the bill with two other tribute acts. Generation Strange does Limp Bizkit, and The Crowing does Coheed and Cambria. Between the three of them, the night covers a fair bit of ground—pop-punk and emo from Taking Back Tacos, nu-metal from Generation Strange, and the progressive rock of Coheed and Cambria from The Crowing.
