Annual fall festival with pumpkin painting, art-making, costume parades, and live conservation demonstrations.
StrawFest returns to the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum on Sunday, October 25, starting at 11 AM. It's the garden's annual fall festival, and if you've never been, the venue itself is a good place to start: the whole site is built around the work of American sculptor Charles Umlauf, and it's described as a peaceful oasis of art framed by nature, tucked away in the middle of a busy and growing city. It's one of those spots in Austin that feels like it's in a different zip code from the traffic outside.
The day is built for families and makers. There's pumpkin painting, art-making, and costume parades, so it's the kind of thing you can bring kids to and let them run with it. Alongside the creative side, there are live demonstrations from local conservation groups like the WILDcenter of Texas and the Austin Bat Refuge, which gives you a look at some of the wildlife work happening around the city.
