Live music night at the historic Hole in the Wall venue featuring Stone Wheels, Grief Goblin, Caroline Sears and Matt Gilchrest.
Grief Goblin returns to the Hole in the Wall on Monday, August 24, as part of their 5 Stages of Grief residency, a series of Monday nights running throughout August. It's a full bill, with Stone Wheels, Caroline Sears, and Dinner with Matt Gilchrest all taking the stage before the headliner.
The night is built around a staggered schedule, so you can catch as much or as little as you like. Stone Wheels kicks things off at 8:30 PM, followed by Caroline Sears at 9:30 PM. Dinner with Matt Gilchrest takes over at 10:30 PM, and Grief Goblin & Thee Miseries close it out at 11:30 PM. If you're there for the whole run, you'll see four different acts in one night, with the headliner coming on late.
For those who know the venue, the Hole in the Wall is one of Austin's oldest spots, having opened in 1974. It started as a folkie hangout where Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, and Blaze Foley played, and later became a home for punk, cosmic country, and alternative, launching the careers of Timbuk3, Fastball, Spoon, and Shakey Graves. It's a historic two-stage dive with a collective capacity of a couple hundred that still hosts live music every night and serves as a proving ground for new bands. It briefly closed in 2002 and came close to being priced out in 2015, but it's still here.
