Stephanie Sammons

Stephanie Sammons plays the Holiday Inn Austin-Town Lake on Thursday, September 24, as part of the South West Folk Alliance Conference (SWRFA) 2026. It's a showcase set, which means it's one of the curated performances the conference puts together for industry folks—presenters, agents, and booking managers—alongside a mix of regional and national folk, roots, and Americana artists. The lineup for this particular slot is just Sammons herself.

Sammons is a Dallas singer-songwriter working in Americana and folk, and she's built her name on the songwriting side of things. She won the New Folk Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Wildflower Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest, and she took home the People's Choice Award too. She's also been a finalist in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Telluride Troubadour Competition, the Songwriter Serenade, and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase. The Nashville Scene has described her as having an emotive voice and plainspoken storytelling, which pretty much sums up the Americana tradition she's playing in.

If you're around for the rest of the conference, there's more to it than just these showcases. SWRFA runs late-night in-room shows on Friday and Saturday, two open mics, and a jar of song prompts at the registration desk that artists can pull from and perform at the Sunday brunch. The showcases themselves are meant to put established acts and emerging voices from the Southwest and beyond in front of the people who book the rooms.
