Steve Palousek plays Sam's Town Point on Monday, August 17, as part of the Steel Monday series. He's the sole bill for the night, so the whole set is his. He hails from Holland, Texas, a small town in the Hill Country about an hour and a half north of Austin.
The venue itself is a bit of a find. Sam's Town Point is in Manchaca, and it's often called the 'South Pole of Austin's musical axis'—geographically one of the city's least visible rooms, tucked away in a wooded neighborhood beyond Slaughter and Manchaca. Despite being so far off the beaten path, it's carved out a place as a happening scene in its own right.

If you're not already familiar with the room, it's worth keeping in mind where it sits: south of the city, well past the usual clusters of venues you'll find downtown or in East Austin.
