Emerging Austin musicians perform live before music industry professionals at the historic Antone's venue.
Sound & Vision is bringing four emerging artists to Antone's on Friday, September 4, as part of a two-day artist development event that pairs Austin musicians with industry professionals. The showcase is the first half of that weekend: four finalist artists perform live before a room of music business experts and a public audience. The second day is devoted to live roundtable consultations and a public panel discussion.
On the bill are Soto the Activist, Kohanna, LeTrainiump, who comes in from Mamou, Louisiana, and Montclair, an Austin local. Each of them gets a private consultation with Daydream Believer Creative and a follow-up with one of the guest panelists, so they walk away with direct career guidance, honest feedback, and a few more national connections than they started with.
The venue is Antone's at 305 East 5th Street, a downtown Austin spot that's been around since 1975. Clifford Antone started it as a blues and R&B room that hosted B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and Buddy Guy, and it helped break Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Bob Schneider, and Gary Clark Jr. A new team restored the brand in 2015 with a renewed focus on making it the 'Home of the Blues.'
