Sō Percussion performs Who Turns Out The Light with Caroline Shaw and Ringdown, a show staged by Mark DeChiazza.
Sō Percussion plays Bates Recital Hall on Friday, January 15, 2027, at 7:30 PM. They're performing Who Turns Out The Light, a show that brings the quartet together with Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-winning composer Caroline Shaw and Ringdown, Shaw's electro-pop duo with Danni Lee Parpan. The whole thing is staged by director and filmmaker Mark DeChiazza.
Sō Percussion is a globally celebrated quartet that's spent years redefining contemporary music. They've collaborated with Steve Reich and are known for weaving classical and pop influences into fresh, genre-blurring works. Who Turns Out The Light puts them on the same stage as Shaw and Ringdown, so the evening pulls from both the quartet's percussion-led sound and Shaw's electro-pop side. The New Yorker described the result as "an exhilarating blend of precision and anarchy, rigor and bedlam," while BBC Radio called it "hypnotically beautiful."
