Concert by Texas songwriter and producer Shelley King, presenting her twelfth album at the Riverbend Centre.
Shelley King plays the Riverbend Centre on Thursday, September 3, at 7:30 PM. It's her only Austin date on a 27-stop tour that runs from August 7 through October 28, so this is the one night she'll be in town.
King is a songwriter, band leader, studio producer, and label owner who has been named Official Texas State Musician by the Texas Legislature and has won several Austin Music Awards. She's a fixture of the local scene, and this show is part of a long run of touring that's kept her on the road for years. She's been touring with Carolyn Wonderland's band for several of those years, and that's the group she's bringing with her for this date.
If you're coming for the new stuff, she's presenting her twelfth album. To get a sense of where she's been, you can look back at her tenth, Madam Mystic, which she recorded with John Magnie and Steve Amedée of the New Orleans group the subdudes. That record also featured multi-Grammy winner Cindy Cashdollar alongside Will McFarlane and Carolyn Wonderland, and she's been touring with Wonderland's band ever since. This show is the Austin stop of a 27-date tour that kicks off August 7 and runs through October 28, so it's one of the few times she'll be playing here this fall.
