Shelley King plays the Saxon Pub on Saturday, August 1, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. She's an Austin-based songwriter, band leader, studio producer, and label owner, and the Texas Legislature appointed her Official Texas State Musician. She's also picked up several Austin Music Awards over the years.
Her latest album, Madam Mystic, is her tenth release and the third she's recorded with John Magnie and Steve Amedée of the New Orleans group the subdudes. The record was tracked across studios in Colorado, Austin, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Woodstock, New York, with guests including multi-Grammy winner Cindy Cashdollar, Will McFarlane, and Shawn Camp. Beyond her own recordings, she's played guitarist for Carolyn Wonderland for several years.
