She Kills Monsters

She Kills Monsters is running at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre from September 17 through September 27, with the production directed by Marcus McQuirter. It's a play by Qui Nguyen, and the cast features guest artist Amber Quick as the Narrator/Vera alongside students from the St. Edward's Department of Performing Arts.

The story is set in 1995. Agnes Evans discovers the Dungeons & Dragons notebook of her late teenage sister, Tilly, and is pulled into a fantastical world of heroic adventurers, fearsome monsters, and larger-than-life villains. As she joins Tilly's campaign, the game becomes a doorway into a part of her sister's life she never really knew. It's a high-energy theatrical adventure that blends comedy, fantasy, and heartfelt storytelling, and it touches on grief, identity, belonging, friendship, and the courage it takes to truly know the people we love.

The venue is the Mary Moody Northen Theatre (MMNT), located at St. Edward's University, 3001 S Congress Ave. It's the only arena theatre in Austin, sitting on a hilltop at the center of the campus with views of the city skyline. The theatre operates on a professional model at the heart of the university's professional theatre training program, where student company members work alongside professional guest artists.

Performances run Thursday through Sunday, September 17-27. Evening shows are at 7:30 PM on September 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26, and Sunday matinees are at 2:00 PM on September 20 and 27. Single tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for educators and seniors, and $18.50 for students.
