Solo exhibition of new paintings by Sarah Ferguson, juxtaposing structure and surrender.
Sarah Ferguson opens a solo exhibition of new paintings, Carte Blanche, at Wally Workman Gallery on Saturday, October 10. The show runs through November 1, and the opening reception is that Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
Ferguson describes the work as a juxtaposition of structure and surrender. Her use of color is meant to leave the viewer with a feeling of expansion, while discipline and ritual define the geometry: concentric forms converge toward a luminous center, with circles orbiting and expanding around it. She says this mirrors life itself—the known against the yet-to-be-discovered, with the center holding steady beneath the grief and transition of outside forces that arrive, recede, and return to shape us.

It's a solo show of new paintings, so you'll be seeing her latest work rather than a retrospective. The gallery is at 1202 W 6th St, and the reception is free to attend. If you can't make the opening, the show stays up through November 1, so you've got a few weeks to catch it on your own time.
