Concert featuring Sara Hickman, Jackie Venson, Suzanna Choffel and Lurleen Ladd, with an album launch by Lurleen Ladd.
Sara Hickman plays Assembly Hall on Saturday, October 10, with Jackie Venson, Suzanna Choffel, and Lurleen Ladd joining her on the bill. The night doubles as an album launch: Lurleen Ladd is celebrating the release of her fourth record, Reclamation.
Hickman is an Austin singer with more than 15 albums to her name, half a dozen of them on major labels, and she's appeared as a guest on at least 25 albums by other musicians. She landed a #1 adult contemporary hit with "I Couldn't Help Myself," appeared twice as a guest on NBC's Tonight Show, and hosted her own VH-1 special. Beyond recording, she produced the independent film Joy, which won first place at the USA Film Festival, and co-produced the PBS documentary Take It Like A Man.

Her voice has also reached cinema audiences; she covered a Martika song for the Arachnophobia soundtrack and has starred in national ad campaigns for Wal-Mart, Daisy Sour Cream, Southwest Airlines, and Fannie Mae. With Venson, Choffel, and Ladd on the bill, the evening brings together four names from the local scene in one night, and with Reclamation being the new record in the mix, there's a fresh release to hear alongside the rest. The show is at Assembly Hall, 1121 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702, starting at 7 PM on Saturday, October 10.
