Saint Levant brings his Afandi World Tour to Stubb's Bar-B-Q on Wednesday, October 7. It's a narrative live show, and the whole thing is built around a specific inspiration: the Levantine cabarets of the 1990s. That's the thread he's pulling on for this tour, so rather than just a string of songs, you're getting a show with a through-line.
If you're not familiar with the reference, the Levantine cabaret scene of that era was a particular blend of music, performance, and storytelling from the Eastern Mediterranean. That's the world he's recreating on stage, and the Afandi title fits right into that cabaret tradition. It's a narrative show, so there's a story being told as the set unfolds, not just a list of tracks.
Stubb's is a good spot for it. It's a dual-level space and a celebrated barbecue joint, with indoor and outdoor stages—the outdoor one can hold over 2,000 people. The venue takes its name and recipes from legendary Lubbock cook Christopher 'Stubb' Stubblefield, who opened the first Stubb's in his hometown in 1968. It's been booked by C3 Presents co-founder Charles Attal and ACL Fest talent doyenne Amy Corbin, and the stages have hosted names from Bob Dylan to Metallica.
