Ruby Dice is playing an album release show at The 04 Center on Saturday, August 29, with the set starting at 8 PM. It's a night built around her new record, and she'll be fronting her own band for the occasion.
Dice is an Austin-based Americana artist, bassist, and bandleader who came to Texas from Gunnison, Colorado. She describes her songwriting as roots-driven with a modern edge, and that's a good way to put it — the music draws on both mountain grit and Texas soul. She's also a sought-after collaborator around town; she's shared the stage with Brian Wilson and recorded her first release alongside members of Band of Heathens. This year, she was nominated for Best Bassist in Austin.
Beyond this show, there's a larger project in the works: she's currently preparing a collaborative album and documentary featuring more than a dozen Austin artists. This release show sits right in the middle of that, so it's a good time to catch her live before the rest of that project comes out.
