Grammy-winning Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela perform live at Emo's Austin as part of the ACL Fest Nights series.
Rodrigo y Gabriela play Emo's on Friday, October 9, as part of ACL Fest Nights presented by American Express. The Grammy-winning Mexican guitar duo, Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero, are touring their new album OurHome, which they self-produced in Tokyo during the band's time in Japan. It's a new record and a global tour to go with it, and this is one of the stops.
They've been at this for more than two decades, and the whole point of their sound is pushing the acoustic guitar into territory it doesn't usually go. They blend classical, rock, metal, cinematic atmosphere and spiritual exploration, and they picked up a Grammy for Mettavolution. The two of them are the only ones on stage: Rodrigo handles the lightning-fast lead lines and Gabriela drives the show with hypnotic, hard-hitting rhythms.
They started out busking on Dublin's Grafton Street, and since then they've headlined Glastonbury and sold out stages like the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall and the Sydney Opera House. This is an official ACL Fest Nights show, and it's open to all ages.
