BookPeople presents a book signing with author Robert Jackson Bennett for his fantasy novel A Trade of Blood, featuring a discussion and signing line.
Robert Jackson Bennett will be at BookPeople on Sunday, August 16, for a discussion and signing to mark the release of his new fantasy novel, A Trade of Blood. The event kicks off at 4 PM on the second floor, with a 45- to 60-minute conversation followed by a signing line.
A Trade of Blood centers on J, the heir to one of the Empire's most powerful families, who finds himself in jail accused of murder. While he's locked up, detective Ana Dolabra and her assistant Dinios Kol work to unravel a deeper web of death stretching across the farming canton of Sapirdad. It's a mystery set within a larger fantasy world, and the discussion will be a chance to hear Bennett talk through the book's world and the story he's built around it.
If you're not already familiar with his work, Bennett is a Hugo Award winner. A Trade of Blood follows The Tainted Cup and its sequel A Drop of Corruption, and comes after his Divine Cities and Founders trilogies. Over the years, his writing has picked up an Edgar Award, a Shirley Jackson Award, and a Philip K. Dick Citation of Excellence, and he's been shortlisted for the World Fantasy, British Fantasy, and Locus Awards.

The event is free and open to the public, so you don't need a ticket to show up and listen. If you want to get your book signed, you'll need to buy a copy of the title—or an item of equal value—from BookPeople. Seating is first-come, first-served and not guaranteed, and there won't be a live stream or recording available, so you'll have to be there in person to catch it. That puts you on the second floor of BookPeople, 603 North Lamar Boulevard, starting at 4 PM.
