Fundraiser for Cine Las Americas 30th anniversary, featuring Mexican food from Teraviva and Mercado Sin Nombre, a silent auction, and film festival promotion.
Cine Las Americas is hosting a fundraiser at The Cathedral on Sunday, September 27, from noon to 2 PM. The afternoon is called Road to 30, ¡Vamos Juntos!, and it's part of the lead-up to the festival's 30th anniversary, which arrives in 2028. Cine Las Americas is a film festival dedicated to promoting Latine/x and Indigenous cinema, and this is one of the events they're putting on as they count down to three decades of that mission.
The afternoon is built around two things: food and a silent auction. On the food side, Mercado Sin Nombre is bringing coffee and desserts, and Teraviva is handling the tacos. They'll have tacos al pastor, carne asada, birria, cochinita pibil, and seasonal fillings. If you're coming for lunch, that's a solid spread to work through.
The silent auction is where the fundraising happens. The items on the table include ACL tapings, Austin FC tickets, and a taco tour with journalist Mando Rayo. There are also hotel packages for San Antonio and Austin, and SXSW badges. Online bidding is open, and there are special prizes for people who show up in person. If you've been wanting to get into the festival's orbit, this is a good way to do it while picking up something you actually want.
