Ritmo Sonali

Ritmo Sonáli plays at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center on Sunday, September 27, as part of the ATX Fiesta Festival. The ensemble is led by Sonáli, a Mexican-Salvadorian vocalist based here in Austin, and the performance is one of the festival's scheduled events.

Sonáli describes her voice as blending classical passion with modern sensibilities, and the group's repertoire pulls from a wide range of styles: jazz, Latin jazz, Brazilian rhythms, salsa, cumbia, and Latin soul. It's a broad reach, but the common thread is her love of rhythm and danceable melodies. Depending on the show, the group can range from a duo up to a septet, so the sound changes based on how many musicians she brings on stage.

The performance is part of the ATX Fiesta Festival, which brings together various artists and events across the city. Ritmo Sonáli is the main ensemble for her work, and this particular set falls within that larger festival program.

It's a Sunday afternoon show, starting at 1:00 PM at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River St, Austin, TX 78701. Admission is free.
