Rewon is showing suspended belief at Future Front, her second solo exhibition. It's a wide-reaching show that brings together paintings, drawings, poetry, and multimedia sculptures, all created during her residency with the gallery. The work comes from a deeply personal place: Rewon's experience of leaving the evangelical Christian faith she was raised in.
She's organized the exhibition into four chapters—Genesis, Exodus, Lamentations, and Revelation—that trace the arc of her religious deconstruction. It moves from inherited belief to questioning, then through grieving and finally to rebuilding her identity. By holding nostalgia alongside critical inquiry, the show asks what's gained and what's lost when we question the narratives we inherit. It's the kind of exhibition that works as much as a personal history as it does as a broader look at faith and doubt.
Because it pulls from so many different mediums, you'll find paintings and drawings hanging alongside poetry and multimedia sculptures, each contributing to those four chapters. The whole thing is the result of her residency with Future Front, so it's a good look at what she's been working on while based there.
