A community music therapy session using singing, drumming and movement to promote calm and creative flow; no musical experience required.
The Music Academy of Austin is hosting a Restorative Music Therapy Community Offering on Sunday, August 30, starting at 2 PM. It's a community session, which means it's open to anyone regardless of musical background—you don't need to know how to read music or have any prior experience to take part.
The session is built around integrative creative therapy, and it moves through a few different activities. There's therapeutic singing, a drumming circle, and movement, all working together to use music as a tool for calming the nervous system and opening up joy and creative flow. Because it's a group experience, you're participating rather than just watching, so it's more of a shared activity than a performance.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

That's also why the numbers are small: places are limited to fifteen people, and you have to reserve your spot in advance. If you're interested, it's worth getting your name on the list sooner rather than later, since it's a capped group. The session runs at The Music Academy of Austin, 1701 Simond Ave. Unit 110, in Austin, on Sunday, August 30, at 2 PM.
