Makeout Reef are playing Mohawk on Sunday, September 13, with Rehash opening. The show is presented by Resound and LEVITATION, and it's open to all ages.
Makeout Reef are an indie/alternative band from Los Angeles, and they're sharing the bill with Rehash, an indie-rock outfit from Miami. Rehash started as two high schoolers making music in their bedrooms, and they've put out two records since then: their self-titled debut in June 2023, and their latest project, mock, in June 2025. That second one is their most recent release, and it's what they're touring behind right now.
Between the two, you've got a Los Angeles act and a South Florida act crossing paths here in Austin. Rehash's story—starting out as two kids in their bedrooms and moving through two albums in a couple of years—gives you a sense of where they're coming from. Makeout Reef bring the West Coast side of the indie/alternative sound to the same stage.
