Monthly book club meeting at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch where attendees discuss works by James Patterson.
Read the Author is back at the Austin Public Library Milwood Branch on Monday, August 10, and this month the spotlight is on James Patterson. It's a monthly book club that picks a different author every time, and the best part is that you get to choose which of that author's books you want to read. So if you've always wanted to dive into Patterson but weren't sure where to start, this is a good excuse to pick one and have a group to talk it over with.
Since the club focuses on the author rather than a single title, you can go with one of his big-name thrillers or something a bit more off the beaten path. The whole point is that everyone comes in having read something different from the same writer, which usually makes for a better conversation than everyone talking about the same plot twists. If you're already a fan, it's a chance to talk about your favorite Patterson era; if you're new to him, you can see what others recommend.
The session runs from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Milwood Branch, 12500 Amherst Drive in North Austin. It's an hour long, and it's open to adults 18 and over. There's no ticket required to attend, and walk-ins are welcome, so you can just show up on the night. If you do sign up for a ticket, it just adds you to the email reminder list—it doesn't reserve a spot or change how you get in.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's free and open to the public, so there's nothing to pay. If you've been looking for a low-pressure way to get back into reading or just want to spend a Monday evening talking books with other people in the neighborhood, this is a solid bet. The session is Monday, August 10, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Milwood Branch.
