In-store performance and record signing with Ray Wylie Hubbard at Waterloo Records.
Ray Wylie Hubbard is playing an in-store performance and record signing at Waterloo Records on Wednesday, September 9, starting at 5:30 PM. It's a small-scale appearance rather than a full club show, with the performance and the signing happening in the same space.
Hubbard is from Wimberley, Texas, and has spent decades working in the outlaw poet and down-home country-blues tradition. He's as much a storyteller as he is a songwriter, known as a raconteur whose truthiness is often described as more bankable than that of many politicians or fundamentalist grifters. That side of him usually comes through as much as the music when he's playing in a room like this.
The appearance follows a recording career that goes back to the mid-70s. His latest album, Reel 2 Reel 4 Real, released through Soundly Music, is his 20th. Between the performance and the signing, there's a chance to hear the new material and then get a copy signed.
