A social climbing meetup for the LGBTQIA+ community at Crux Climbing Center, welcoming all climbing abilities.
Queer Cuties Climb is back at Crux Climbing Center (Central) on Tuesday, August 18, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's the gym's LGBTQIA+ climbing meetup, a social group that brings together queer community members for a session on the walls. The whole point is to create a safe, supportive, and joyful space for people to mingle and meet one another while they climb.
One of the best things about it is that all climbing abilities are welcome. You don't have to be a regular at the gym to join in—absolute beginners are as welcome as experienced climbers. If you've never put on a harness before, this is a low-pressure way to get started. If you've been climbing for years, it's a chance to meet other queer folks in the Austin climbing scene.
Crux describes the group as a social one, so the focus is as much on the people as it is on the climbing. It's about finding your community in the city, not just ticking off routes. The session runs from 7 PM to 9 PM, giving you plenty of time to climb and hang out.
