Concert by singer-songwriter Peter Bradley Adams presenting his album 'A Face Like Mine' at The 04 Center.
Peter Bradley Adams plays The 04 Center on Thursday, September 10, presenting his album A Face Like Mine. It's a solo bill, with Adams as the only name on the poster.
Adams is a singer and songwriter born in Birmingham, Alabama, who grew up in a musical family. He spent time scoring for film before teaming up with Kat Maslich-Bode to form Eastmountainsouth in 1999, and he launched his solo career in 2005 with a self-titled EP. Along the way, he's worked as a session musician on albums by Michael Penn, Juliana Hatfield, and Josh Groban. His first full-length solo album, Gather Up, came out in 2006 on the independent High Wire Music label. In 2014, he started his own label, I Me Mine Records, with his fifth album, The Mighty Storm.
A Face Like Mine is his sixth solo record, and he describes it as a song cycle that brings his confidence and completeness into sharp focus. Adams has talked about the shift in his own voice over the years, saying his singing developed from that of a scared guy to someone who believes what he is saying, and that his writing has become less rigid. His brand of Americana nests a delicate, heartfelt voice in gentle guitar, tasteful dobro, subtle banjo, supportive bass, and unhurried percussion.
