Perception Zero (Nebraska), Shuv, Crave, Mysterio

Perception Zero are playing Hotel Vegas & The Volstead Lounge on Wednesday, October 14, with Shuv, Crave, and Mysterio on the bill. It's a four-band night, and Perception Zero is the one coming in from out of town — they're a rock outfit from the Nebraska regional scene.

If the name doesn't ring a bell, it's because this is a new project. The band is made up of former members of The Way Out, who put out through We're Trying Records, and Farklezaar, who were on Bad Dad Records. They describe themselves as a "fun-to-watch" powerhouse, and the sound sits right between gritty post-grunge textures and the urgency and melody of pop punk. It's the kind of rock that works as well in a loud room as it does on a record, and they're touring with a debut album slated for a fall release, so you'll be hearing new material.

Sam Crisler of MEZfm summed them up as "gritty, melodic, and built for loud rooms," which pretty much covers the ground they're covering here. The night is 21+ and inside, and with Shuv, Crave, and Mysterio filling out the rest of the bill, it's a full run of bands rather than a single headliner. The show runs from 8 PM to midnight, and tickets are $5.
