A guided watercolor workshop where participants paint a portrait of their pet as royalty; no prior drawing skills required.
Carlie Arts is hosting Paws & Prejudice: Paint Your Pet Like Royalty at St. Elmo Brewing Co. on Wednesday, August 26. The whole idea is exactly what the title says: you paint a watercolor portrait of your own pet dressed up as royalty. If you've got a dog or a cat at home that already acts like they run the place, this is the chance to make it official on paper.
Carlie Arts leads the session step-by-step, so you aren't just left to figure it out on your own. You'll follow along as you build the portrait, and the royal theme gives you a clear direction to work with—think crowns, ruffs, and all the fancy trappings that come with the territory. The best part is that no drawing skills are required. You don't need to be an artist or have any experience with watercolors to get through it; the guidance is built into the process, so you can just focus on the painting.
It's a two-hour session, which gives you plenty of time to work without feeling rushed. Since it's held at St. Elmo Brewing Co., you can have a beer in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, and you'll leave with a finished watercolor of your pet in royal attire to take home. It's the kind of thing that works just as well as a solo outing as it does with a friend.
