Patrice Pike Band plays 04 Center on Wednesday, August 19. It's a home-city show for Patrice Pike, an Austin singer-songwriter who's been part of the local scene since she moved here from Dallas in 1992. Her music pulls from rock, R&B, soul, jazz, and world influences, with lyrics she focuses on hope and compassion.
If you've followed the Austin jam scene, you likely know her from Sister 7 (also known as Little Sister), the band she fronted for years. Their album This the Trip got Billboard Chart recognition for the track "Know What You Mean." After Sister 7 disbanded, she kept working with guitarist Wayne Sutton, and in 2017 they formed Pike and Sutton, releasing Heart Is a Compass in 2020. This show brings her back to the stage under the Patrice Pike Band name.
She's toured with some big names over the years—Blues Traveler, Sarah McLachlan, the Allman Brothers, Dave Matthews, John Fogerty, and Sinead O'Connor—and has played the Austin City Limits Music Festival seven times. Beyond the music, she co-founded the Step Onward Foundation in 2005, which helps young adult survivors of childhood homelessness.
