Austin power-pop act Parker Woodland performs in-store to celebrate their first cassette tape release at Waterloo Records.
Parker Woodland are playing Waterloo Records on Friday, July 24, at 5:30 PM to celebrate their first cassette release. It's an in-store performance, so the set is right there in the shop, and they'll be hanging around for a record signing afterward.
If you're not familiar with them, Parker Woodland is an Austin power-pop act and a KUTX favorite, fronted by singer and bassist Erin Walter. The band is built around a rare all-woman rhythm section, with drummer Keri Cinquina on the other end. They took their name from the intersection of Parker Lane and Woodland Avenue, and they've grown into a regular fixture of the Texas music scene, known for championing LGBTQ+ rights and community resilience.
Their album, There's No Such Thing as Time, is a ten-track collection that sets existential threats to the planet and society—climate change and transphobia among them—against bright punk, climbing scuzzy guitars, and a driving beat. They've also put out the single "Get Me to the Show." The cassette release is their first time putting a record out on tape, so this is the night they're marking it.
