Concert by the iconic British rock band The Fixx at Radio/East in Austin.
The Fixx play Radio/East on Saturday, July 25, presented by the Paramount Theatre. The English band has been around since the early 1980s, and they're coming to Austin as part of their touring schedule. They'll be sharing the bill with Radio East.
If you've never heard of them, The Fixx emerged from England during the MTV era and became one of the most innovative bands of that period. They built their reputation on complex, introspective, and thought-provoking themes, and they backed it up with a run of commercial success: three #1 hits, five Top Five singles, and a dozen tracks that reached the Top Ten, with millions of albums sold worldwide. Their sound helped define the 1980s, and they're still a presence on rock, Hot AC, and alternative radio stations.
Among the songs you'll likely recognize are "One Thing Leads To Another," "Red Skies," "Stand or Fall," and "Saved by Zero." Those four alone cover a good chunk of the ground they broke during their peak years. The set should draw from that catalog, and with Radio East on the bill, there's more than one act to see.
