Paint Your Pup! is happening at Thicket Food Park this Thursday, August 20, and it's exactly what the name says: you bring your dog and you paint a portrait of them. It's one of those low-stakes, high-reward kinds of afternoons where the goal isn't to walk away with a masterpiece, but to spend a couple of hours with your dog sitting right there as your model.

Thicket is a food park, which means the painting is just one part of the afternoon. You can grab a drink or some food from the various vendors on-site and keep it nearby while you work. It's a casual, open-air spot, so it's the kind of environment where having a dog hanging around fits right in. You'll have your canvas, your paints, and your dog to look at—everything you need to get a portrait going, even if you've never touched a paintbrush in your life.

The session runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, giving you two full hours to work on your piece. Since it's a two-hour window, there's plenty of time to take a break, step away from the canvas, and let your dog stretch their legs without feeling like you're rushing to finish. It's a slow-paced way to spend a Thursday evening, and since it's at a food park, you can easily make a meal out of it.

Entry is $12, and it's held every Thursday, so if you can't make this one, there's another chance next week. The session runs from 6 PM to 8 PM at Thicket Food Park in Austin.
