A soulful Americana and Texas-rooted music night featuring Paige Plaisance with special guest Monica Valli, celebrating an album release.
Paige Plaisance plays Antone's Nightclub on Saturday, September 5, with Monica Valli opening. It's an album release show, so the set will center on her new record.
Plaisance writes soulful, heartfelt Americana and Texas-rooted songs carried by powerful vocals and emotional depth. The night with Monica Valli leans on storytelling, rich melodies and an authentic live connection. Between the two, the bill stays in that same storytelling vein.
The venue is Antone's Nightclub at 305 E. Fifth, which opened in 1975 and is known as "Austin's Home of the Blues." After several relocations, it found a new lease of life in 2016 behind local luminaries including Gary Clark Jr. The main room holds 400 and still houses blues legends while nurturing emerging talents, and the upstairs gallery holds another 300 for special events. Archival photography by Susan Antone and others testifies to the club's history, which keeps alive traditions like the Blue Monday jams, with regular appearances from Soul Man Sam Evans and Lindsay Beaver playing alongside Brad Stivers.
