Art crawl through the Canopy arts park with free entry from 1-4pm to browse works on display at various studios.
Canopy is opening its doors for an art crawl on Saturday, September 5, from 1 PM to 4 PM. It's a free entry afternoon, and the whole point is to walk the grounds and browse work on display across several of the studios. If you've never been, Canopy is an Eastside arts park that houses 57 working studios and more than 70 artists, so there's plenty to see even if you only have an hour.
For this crawl, five of the resident spaces are taking the lead. There's ICOSA Collective, an artist-run nonprofit; Modern Rocks Gallery, which centers on rock & roll photography; and Ivester, a contemporary space built around artists. SAGE Studio focuses on artists with disabilities, and Almost Real Things operates as a gallery, magazine, and event production house. Each one brings something different to the mix, so you can drift from photography to contemporary art to a nonprofit collective without ever leaving the park.
Because it's a crawl, you're not tied to one spot. You can spend as much or as little time at each studio as you like, and since it's all on the same grounds, it's easy to loop back to something that caught your eye. It's a good way to see a handful of different practices in one go, and you'll get a sense of who's working inside the park.
