Noon Tunes returns to KMFA 89.5FM on Tuesday, August 11, as part of the station's summer midday series. Guillermo Delgado hosts the session, which this time centers on the Merrie Melodies cartoons from Looney Tunes. You'll see Rhapsody Rabbit, set to Liszt, and Rabbit of Seville, set to Rossini, with Delgado adding context to the cartoons as they play. The screening is followed by a sing-along with Cover to Cover.
The whole thing is built for families. Before the cartoons start, kids get free snacks, cookies, and activities, so it's a low-stress way to spend a Tuesday afternoon with little ones in tow. The series is part of KMFA's Kids on Key summer program, which an Austin Chronicle reviewer called their favorite radio preset for families.
KMFA 89.5FM is Austin's independent public classical radio station. It broadcasts from an 18,000-square-foot facility that opened in 2021 and houses studios, performance spaces, a gallery, and communal rooms; it was named a 2021 Critics' Pick for Best New Place to See Music. The station is located at 41 Navasota St. in Lower East Austin.
