A horror-themed book club session at BookPeople where readers explore horror fiction.
The Nightmare Factory Book Club is back at BookPeople on Tuesday, July 21, with a session titled The Ritual. It's one of the bookstore's themed book clubs, and this one is dedicated entirely to horror fiction. If you're into the darker side of the shelf, this is the one to keep an eye on.
The club is run by self-styled crypt-keepers who invite readers to navigate the bloody byways and diabolic depths of their fears through horror fiction. It's not your average book club—the whole thing is built around the genre, so you'll be talking through the kind of stories that are meant to keep you up at night. If you've been reading horror on your own and want a group to dissect it with, this is a good place to start.
The session takes place on the third floor of BookPeople, at 603 N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin. It starts at 7 PM, so it's a weekday evening thing—easy enough to swing by after work. Admission is free, which makes it a low-stakes way to get into the mix if you're not sure yet if a horror-themed club is your speed.

If you're planning to go, just remember it's on the third floor, not down in the main stacks. The Nightmare Factory is one of several themed clubs BookPeople hosts, so if you enjoy this one, there are usually others to follow. It all kicks off at 7 PM on Tuesday, July 21, and it won't cost you anything to join in.
