National Night Out (NNO) Kickoff Party

The Austin Police Department is hosting its National Night Out Kickoff Party on Saturday, October 3, at the Home Depot Parking Lot (1200 Barbara Jordan Boulevard). It runs from 8 AM to 11 AM, and it's the official starting point for National Night Out, which falls on Tuesday, October 6.

The whole thing is set up as a one-stop shop for community members, neighborhood watch programs, and homeowner and neighborhood associations. The idea is that you can swing by, gather swag, community resources, and information from first responders, City of Austin departments, and community stakeholders, and then take all that back to your own NNO party. If you're already planning a block party or a neighborhood get-together for the 6th, this is where you pick up the supplies and the info to share with your neighbors.

Austin Resource Recovery will be there with their own booth, handing out kitchen compost collectors—one per household, while supplies last. If you've been meaning to get a compost bin for your kitchen, this is a good time to snag one for free.

It's a morning thing, so you'll be in and out before lunch. The kickoff is Saturday, October 3, from 8 AM to 11 AM at the Home Depot Parking Lot, 1200 Barbara Jordan Boulevard, Austin, TX 78723.
