Music Mixer ATX is back at The Highball on Sunday, August 2, with Actve Captve taking the main feature. It's a night built for musicians, songwriters, producers and creatives rather than for business networking: short live sets run alongside a room where people meet collaborators, share ideas and support each other. The organizers frame it as a space to find people who understand why creating matters and who believe that collaboration is a superpower.
It's aimed squarely at aspiring musicians and hobbyists looking for people to jam with. The Highball's stage doubles as a showcase and audition platform for local artists of all backgrounds and styles, giving them the chance to connect, create and play together in front of an audience. Songs get jammed, bands get formed and lights laser across the dancefloor.
Music Mixer ATX started in 2022 at the Historic Victory Grill in East Austin and has since grown to venues like The Highball and Mohawk around the city, with the project funded in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department. The focus has stayed on the creative side of things—the short sets and the room for meeting collaborators—rather than on the professional networking side.
