Moonrise Kingdom

Moonrise Kingdom is playing at Alamo Drafthouse Village on Friday, August 28, as part of the Drafthouse's Kids Camp series. It's a Wes Anderson film, so you know the drill: meticulously framed shots, a quirky cast of kids and adults, and that specific, storybook kind of charm. If you've seen it before, it's the kind of thing that works just as well a second or third time, and if you haven't, it's a great place to start with Anderson.

There's something about seeing this one on a big screen that hits differently than watching it at home. The whole movie is built around these carefully composed images and a very particular sense of space, and that's exactly what you lose when you shrink it down to a TV.
