A hands-on workshop where participants create and decorate their own Day of the Dead-inspired animal masks from scratch.
Vigor Studio is launching a new series called Moon Made Sundays at Moontower Saloon, and the first one is a Day of the Dead mask-making class on Sunday, October 25. It's a two-hour session that runs from 12 PM to 2 PM, so you're in and out by early afternoon.
The whole point is to make your own Day of the Dead-inspired animal mask from scratch. You'll spend the two hours painting, decorating, and embellishing it, and then you take the finished piece home with you. It's a full process—starting with the base and working your way up to the final details—rather than just coloring in something that's already done. Since you're making an animal mask, you can lean into whatever creature you're feeling, and the Day of the Dead theme gives you a good starting point for the colors and patterns.
One of the best parts is that you don't need any previous experience to join in, and you don't have to bring a thing. Vigor Studio provides all the supplies, so you just show up and get to work. It's open to all ages and skill levels, which makes it an easy one to bring a friend or a kid along for. If you've never spent a Sunday afternoon making something with your hands, this is a low-stakes way to start.

It's the first event in the Moon Made Sundays series, so it's the opening of what looks like a regular run of Sunday workshops at the saloon. The class is $35 per person for the two hours, and it's held at Moontower Saloon, 10212 Menchaca Road, Austin, TX 78748.
