Alternative folk session with Mike Stewart Theory and Andrew DuPlantis at Hole in the Wall, part of the venue's Tuesday happy hour.
Mike Stewart Theory plays Hole in the Wall on Tuesday, September 29, with Andrew DuPlantis sharing the bill. The show is billed as alternative folk and falls under the venue's Tuesday happy hour, so it's a mid-week night rather than a weekend one. Joining them on stage are Jennifer Cook, Matty Giles, and Greg Vinella.
Mike Stewart Theory is the project of producer, writer, and artist Michael Ivan Stewart, who also goes by Mike Stewart, TexasMike, and Mikey Two Hats. He describes it as an optimistic outlet for his creativity, one he's built with collaborators in London, Amsterdam, Austin, and at the Mühle der Freundschaft Studio in Bad Iburg, Germany. It's a project that pulls in people from a few different cities rather than staying in one room.
Stewart's background is mostly behind the boards. As a producer, he's put together more than 50 million streams, with work for The Dead Milkmen, Poi Dog Pondering, The True Believers, The Wild Seeds, Calvin Russell, Jon Dee Graham, Ed Hall, Glass Eye, and The Gourds. He also has a platinum record with the Danish artist Poul Krebs. His regular collaborators include Sean Read, who's worked with Dexy's, Beth Orton, and Edwyn Collins; Marcus Praed; Kevin Russell of The Gourds and Shinyribs; Søren Jacobsen; Susan Voelz, who has played with Poi Dog, Smashing Pumpkins, Breeders, and Brian Wilson; and Henning Kvitnes.
