MICO plays Scoot Inn on Friday, October 23, as part of his Running From A Feeling Tour. It's one of 26 dates across 24 cities, and the Austin stop falls in the middle of the run.
If you're not familiar with him, MICO is Miguel Veloso, a 23-year-old Filipino-Canadian alt-pop-rock artist who built his following online. He started with Discord performances and Twitch streams, and from there he grew to over a million followers and 100 million global streams. The music sits in a specific pocket: it blends the hook-heavy nostalgia of 2000s and 2010s pop-punk with modern alt-pop and hyperpop influences. It's a sound that looks back at the pop-punk era while keeping its feet in the current alt-pop scene.
He's touring his debut album, When the lights turn on, released through Columbia Records. Before that, he put out the EP Internet hometown hero and a deluxe edition of it, so the set should pull from both the new record and the earlier material. The tour is called Running From A Feeling, and it's the first time he's taking this full body of work on the road.
