Fall Native Plant Sale with a variety of Texas natives including flowering perennials, annuals, grasses, vines, shrubs and trees.
The Wildflower Center is holding its Fall Native Plant Sale starting Friday, October 9, and it runs through October 16. If you've been wanting to put some Texas natives in your yard, this is the window to do it. The sale opens at 9 AM on that first Friday and stays open for the following week, so you've got plenty of days to work with rather than having to rush in on a single afternoon.
The selection is built around Texas natives, which is the whole point of planting here—they're the ones that actually want to live in our soil and weather. You'll find flowering perennials, annuals, grasses, vines, shrubs, and trees. That covers a lot of ground, from the small things that fill in a flowerbed to the larger shrubs and trees that can anchor a whole garden. If you're looking for something specific to a certain spot in your yard—maybe a vine for a fence or a perennial that'll come back every year—you'll find it here.
Since it's a native sale, everything is selected for the local environment. Planting natives is one of the easiest ways to support the local pollinators, and because these plants evolved here, they generally handle the Austin heat and our unpredictable rain better than almost anything else you can buy. It's a good time to pick up a few things and get them in the ground while the weather is still cooperating.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
