Melt-Banana play Radio/East on Friday, September 11, as part of Levitation 2026. The Tokyo noise-rock duo will be joined by Powerplant, who open the bill.
If you're not familiar with them, Melt-Banana are one of the riot grrrl pioneers, and they've built a reputation as one of the most gloriously unreasonable live bands on earth. That's a good way to describe what they do on stage: high-energy, loud, and not particularly concerned with playing it safe. They've been at it since the early nineties, and their live set is where the noise-rock label really earns its keep.
The show is one piece of Levitation 2026, which runs from September 10 to 13 across several venues around Austin. Over those four nights, the festival spreads its lineup across the city rather than keeping everything under one roof, so you'll find different acts playing different rooms throughout the weekend. Melt-Banana and Powerplant take the Friday night slot at Radio/East, which puts them right in the middle of the run.
