Reading session by Meg Cabot to celebrate the release of her graphic novel series 'Detective Baby: Dance Team Drama'.
Meg Cabot is coming to BookPeople on Wednesday, September 2, for a reading and signing around her new graphic novel, Detective Baby: Dance Team Drama. The session runs from 6 PM to 7 PM on the second floor of the bookstore at 603 North Lamar Boulevard, with check-in starting at 5:15 PM. It's open to the public, and admission is free.
Detective Baby: Dance Team Drama is the latest in a graphic novel series from Cabot, who describes the premise as Boss Baby meets The Baby-Sitters Club with a touch of Ocean's Eleven. The story follows Jenny, a middle schooler with the superpower of understanding baby talk, who teams up with Rosie, a brilliant and devious detective baby, to solve the theft of the money Jenny raised for her dance team. It's a mystery that plays with the contrast between the two leads—a middle schooler and a baby—working together to track down the missing funds.
Most of us know Cabot from The Princess Diaries, the series that made her a household name and later became a Disney movie franchise, though the books were a bit spikier than the adaptations. She's spent years writing for young adults, and her books for adults and teens have turned out more than twenty-five million copies worldwide, with plenty of New York Times bestsellers along the way. These days she lives in Key West, Florida.

The session itself lasts about 45 to 60 minutes, and while it's free to attend, you'll need a ticket or a book purchase to join the signing line afterward. If you're planning to get your copy signed, getting there closer to that 5:15 PM check-in time is probably a good call.
