Matt Braunger

Matt Braunger headlines Cap City Comedy Club on Thursday, August 20, at 8 PM. He'll be performing in the Red Room, one of the club's smaller spaces.

Braunger has been headlining since 2007, but he's been acting since he was a kid. He studied theatre in New York and improvisation in Chicago, and that background shows up in his TV work. He's had recurring roles on ABC's Agent Carter, NBC's Up All Night, Netflix's Disjointed, Starz' Take My Wife, and Amazon's Upload. He was a series regular on Fox's MADtv and a cast member on the TruTV series How to Be a Grown Up. In 2009, Variety named him one of their Top 10 Comics to Watch, and Comedy Central put him on their Hot 9.

His recording history is just as long. His debut album, Soak Up The Night (Comedy Central Records), was an iTunes Top 20 Comedy Album in 2009. He recorded a Comedy Central Presents special in 2010, followed by the hour-long Shovel Fighter in 2012, and later released Big, Dumb Animal, Finally Live in Portland, and Doug in the fall of 2022. He's also played festivals like Just For Laughs in Montreal and Moontower here in Austin.

Braunger was raised in Portland, Oregon, and that Pacific Northwest root is something he still carries. The Red Room is an 18+ club with a two-item minimum per person, so come prepared to order a couple of drinks or snacks. The show starts at 8 PM on Thursday, August 20.
